I keep trying to like it.
    I want to like it.
    I just can't like it.

I like Donna. I like Andy. I just can't put up with Brian or thinking bullying spirits into communicating is acceptable.

I stopped liking the show from the moment those moronic boobs thought threatening to burn a little spirit girls toys was a good way to get her to communicate. To me, it was just as bad as if they said it to a real kid.

i have to agree with adri, burning a little girl's toy's alive or in spirit is wrong!!! just to get her to talk come on ppl would you like someone to burn your stuff just to get you to talk? or push you or bully you to talk i can ansure that no right? so why do it to anyone alive or not.

As a technique, goading spirits seems to work best when used against inhuman or malevolently-behaving spirits.

Using it all the time is pretty crass. I'd like to hear how he talks to living kids and the elderly!

poking or goading even malevolent spirits is just asking for trouble. We do not allow the members of our Paranormal Research to do that.

The last episode was better with the exception of the fact that brian is scared of his own shadow. I find the show sort of a hybrid between Most Haunted and Ghost Hunters.

I have to admit, poking and goading my little sister turned out to be a really bad idea. I can't imagine it does too well for ghosts.

As for GHI (which really looks to be GHUK with the occasional side trip) I don't find myself as intrigued by it but I'm not sure why. It may just be the mix of personalities.

I really like this show. I think it's because of the fact that Jason and Grant try to disprove hauntings and don't try to shove any religion down our throats. And they're very likable. Just my opinion.

                um.
Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International are two different shows.

Ghost Hunters I like. ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES!!! lol

Ghost Hunters international is the "TAPS rejects" show where they run around Scotland, England and Ireland chasing ghosts that don't have accents....

You're right, my bad. I guess I should clarify my post by stating that I like the original GH, but I find GHI to be just entertainment. That guy, Barry, is always seeing shadows that no one else sees. Too many hallucinogenics, perhaps? Or perhaps something in the ale.

“Ghost Hunters international is the "TAPS rejects" show where they run around Scotland, England and Ireland chasing ghosts that don't have accents”

Sorry, but that’s seems a little harsh to me.

We’ve (apparently) heard EVPs with either accents or other languages.

                  But, that being said:
“WHOAA! DUDE SOMETHING JUST WACKED MY ARM!”
Brian is a trip. His tendency to be somewhat less than truthful has been a question in the past.
And I can just imagine the producers of GHI encouraging the international crew to be… shall we say dramatic … expressive.
Brian is a likeable guy; but not perfect – like most of us. I think he’s been knocked around a bit in life (and in recent years verbally beaten without mercy by members of the team). Personally, I would never put up with Jason (the big guy) as a boss. Yes he comes across well, dealing with the public (plumber’s got good customer service skills), but I think most of us have seen him rip into the little worker bees way more than they deserved. Jason rules with a heavy hand (imo he’s a bully) and I think staying with him as long as Brian has – has taken its toll on Brian (an unhealthy relationship). Brian has a passion for ghost hunting and has put up with Jason’s bullying for too long – because TAPs is the place to be if you are a ghost hunter.

I like Donna (I don’t think of her as a TAPs reject) and since I’m already going out on a limb here I’ll be un-PC and say she doesn’t look happy or healthy? Looks like she is putting on a bit of weight (but I’m sure all that traveling abroad can have an effect)?

Andy is good! Just ask him; he takes every opportunity to prove what a whizz he izz.
I think he is a nice guy, but I can see why others have not wanted him around; would get on my nerves too.

Barry is the one I don’t trust. Pretty much everyone else we have seen is like an open book, but Barry seems to play his cards very close to his chest. I feel he is very much into theatrics (ala: Most Haunted), “I saw something, let’s get out of here, RUN RUN RUN” – of course we never actually get to see anything.

GHI – the majority of the time:
                  - they see shadows, But we don’t
                  - they hear sounds, But we don’t
                  - they see lights, But we don’t

I soooo want to believe! And I “think” most of the GHI team are honest (though perhaps encouraged to be … shall we say “expressive” for the audience.

But, to end on a positive note; I’m fascinated by the locations abroad and the “real” witnesses in these exotic locations – people who enthusiastically tell their “ghost stories”; debunk-able or not.

I totally enjoy the original Ghost Hunters show. The crew on GHI tend to be quite arrogant, even condesending when dealing with not just the ghosts but the people who have invited them to investigate. This is sad since the old world has many sites which would be fun to investigate. I wouldn't mind Grant and Jason coming to check out my place but not the international crew.

Hi I'm new on the site and reading through some of the post...so pardon my lateness in response.

I like the original show absolutely...and am still out on the Internatinal version. I like Andy and the girls pretty much...but that Irish or British guy(Barry?) is an oaf! I cannot imagine goading spirits. I did that once and got attacked by the spirit....one less I learned quite quickly after it sent an entire cabinet of corningware/pryex flying at me.
I thinkit's pretty bad joss to be goading and trying to cause confrontation with a spirit manevolant or otherwise.
Think this is just another spin off that won'tlst long.

More of the regular TAPS crew would be better!

The more I watch GHI the less I like it.

I get the feeling that this was a project pushed by the SciFi Channel to get more take on the Ghost Hunter franchise.

The original show has a natural flow to it. Jason and Grant have a great presence on screen as normal everyday guys, and showing them doing their "real" jobs as plumbers goes a long way towards establishing that.

This is in contrast to having Team Leads on GHI who seem on the verge of a "drama moment" on each investigation.

SciFi Channel, get a clue. Not EVERYTHING needs a spin-off or sequel. maintain the integrity of the original show and be happy.

In our Paranormal Investigation group we specifically tell you to NOT provoke or threaten the spirits. That is a definate call to exclude you for a few investigations and to continue to do it would mean likely expulsion from the team!

Threatening or pushing them like that could result in the spirits retaliating and hurting someone else in the team. Most of the places these people are going to are VERY old locations with (probably) VERY old ghosts. These people were from a different time when certain phrases and behavior caused extreme consequences. They are clearly not thinking some of this over.

I like Andy - even though I still get 'wonder years' vibes off him and the girls are ok. Those other two guys? Oh no.

Sneakyparrot I agree with you 100% because I was thinking the same thing and THEN they came up with the UFO Hunters which has the exact same format as GH but with the Alien Hunter theme. It's not the format SciFi it's the chemistry of the people who ARE the show. Most of us watch Most Haunted with their silly girlie shrieking and all of the goofy things they do - I don't watch it because I believe in what they do - I watch it because I love the history of the haunted locations - same with Ghost Hunters International Rejects.

        Accept no substitutes! :)

Once again I tune in to see the ever egotistical Brian trying to goad and bully whatever presence he was realting to by saying "If that's all y ou're gonna show me then I'll have to do somethng nasty."
Boy these guys really think they are all that huh? A few sucesses and they got a case of power fever.
I think I've seen enough and enjoy the original TAPS team much more...they are at least real and level headed. I didnt like Brian on TAPS and don't like him much better on GHI.

Can anyone affirm or deny the a statment that I heard about playing with, goading, pestering spirits gives them more power and they continue to get bolder?
I am trying to impress this on some of the kids I work with at my office, which is a very old house with many spirits, most of whom have been reasonably nice to live with, especially the one we call "The Lady of the House". They seem intent on pushing it to the limit and there are now more occurances in the office.

I don't know about giving them more power but if you piss them off like any person they'll use all resources to make your life miserable. It may take more power but if they are bent on revenge what can ya do?

I'd personally rather not find out what 'all resources' would be in an pissed off spirit intent on kicking my @ss. Then again I tend to be brighter than some people LOL

Besides provoking them could make them not go after the provoker but after anyone. How would it feel to know that someone got hurt because 'you' (in theory) goaded them into being pissed off. Leave well enough alone and if they keep it up I suggest a squirt bottle of water and squirt them every time they start ;)

Though this is only a supposition on my part, I believe that if these entities or phenomena are primarily manifestations of energy in some form, the introduction of harsh or "negative" energy into an area in which they have been known to appear is about as productive as looking for a lost, frightened child while wearing scary clown make-up and cackling "C'mere, c'mere!" like some kind of pedophile.

When "ghost humting" we ar fishing with a very fragile line. Tossing grenades into the water just stuns the fish and muddies the water.

Yeah I am of the same mind set when it comes to having a healthy respect for the spirits of any house, land etc...
Just can;t get these young ones to understand that they are playing in the wrong sandbox, so to speak. The spirits there are more along the lines of caretaker energies...we do overnights there because it's a temporary shelter for street kids..it is not uncommon for "The Lady of the House" to come down and check on us while we are sleeping. They have been very friendly spirits, thus far and I'd like to keep it that way.

Not totally off-topic at all; illustrative of the point some of us have been trying to make.

Why try to piss off or scare away the very thing you want to observe, unless the producers just want more "drama" real or perceived? They would just pee all over themselves like an excited puppy if they could get images of an angry inhuman entitty beheading and devouring the soul of one of the GHI team. ;-)

Can you imagine the promos on SciFi?

Oh man, what a train wreck! I tried like hell week after week, and it's just...weak...LOL...seriously.

The EVP's are weak, and you definitely don't have the elite ghost hunters on the project!

One more week and the real ghost hunters will be on!!! Yippee!!

Some of the cases are interesting, some not. The German castle was good. I spent some time there and know that it looks exactly like that. There are castles up on hills everywhere. It's amazing how old those countries are compared to the U.S. I went to churches and castles from the 1700's. I have no doubt that a lot of them are haunted, simply from the lives that had to pass through those walls through all that time. I understand German and knew what those EVP's were saying, and it freaked me out a little. That was really the only GHI that scared me, though. And I find it funny that Barry is the only one who sees shadows, although I think Brian is catching a little of that hysteria. And another question; Why is Shannon there when she gets scared all the time? I would think a ghost hunter should be a little immune to things that go bump in the night. Oh well, only one more week to go for the REAL guys to come back.

I am a rabid Ghost Hunters fan. Jay and Grant are very presentable, low key, and believable in what they say they experience. I love that they don't try to find ghosts, but try to find alternate explanations for the stories. Best of all, they don't get each other going when something happens. My beef with the GHI team is that they seem to want things to be paranormal so badly they try everything in their power to make them so. I have seen them egg each other on, egg the property owners on at the initial interview, and egg them on before presenting evidence. Last episode, the homeowner refused to enter a room in her home because she heard sounds coming from the roof. Video evidence proved a herd of cats lived up there and ran around all night. Robb then assured her that there was no proof that the sound was always the cats, and could still be the ghost - despite any other evidence or experiences. Sorry, but that's a load of crap.

They also used EVP's as definitive evidence of paranormal activity from a castle in ruins that sat at a busy intersection where there was so much noise from traffic they had to yell at each other just to hear. That is totally shoddy investigating, and I was embarassed that they used the "evidence" at all.

I wish TAPS had more influence over the GHI show. I bet Jay and Grant want to scream when the see the shows, and what is called paranormal or haunted that they might call bad plumbing. There's a running joke at my house - If you want your house to be haunted, call the GHI team and it will be.
